Evergreen shrub to hide pond detritus

I've inherited a pond with a ginormous pendulous sedge behind it, which I hate. I'm going to hack it out (somehow), but need something to replace it.

Although I hate it, it's good because its evergreen, and hides all the pond pump, pipes etc.

It's east face, gets an ok amount of sun, but not very damp as it's under a tree. Any thoughts?

Can you share a photo?

Unfortunately not because I'm an idiot and didn't name change so too identifying.

I would say Choisya - pretty vigorous, flowers, evergreen, you can hack it back if you need to.

The best thing about Carex pendula is the ripping sound the roots make as you pull it out! How much space have you got and how sunny is it?

Ooh I'd not heard of choisya, it's beautiful! Thanks!

It's about 2-3 foot under the tree, I'd say?

Our pond is overhung by a corkscrew hazel, gorgeous but not very practical as the leaves drop in over the winter. Then next to that is a very large mahonia, striking shiny/spiky leaves and around Christmas time acid yellow flowers which fill the path with with scent, always gives me hope for spring.

They’re the gift that keeps on giving as even after you’ve dug it out the seeds hang around sprouting new ones for YEARS.
