Sorry, photo not very clear as the hellebores behind obscures things a bit.

It’s the one with darker leaves which appear to have white (mould?) and has the thick stem.

Was about to get rid but thought I’d check first!

It's a weed that gets quite tall and has yellow flowers. Hang on a bit and I'll see if I can identify what type. My memory is not what it was when it comes to native plants.

Could be Yellow Archangel (Lamium galeobdolon), a perennial in the mint family.
Characteristics: It has nettle-like leaves but does not have stinging hairs.
Flowers: The plant produces hooded, yellow flowers in early summer.
Growth Habit: It is a vigorous, creeping groundcover that thrives in shaded areas.
Identification Note: Some forms, particularly those grown in gardens, may have silvery white variegation on their leaves.

Is it going to be Sowthistle? I had a great one in my garden plant pots.

GardenTable · 29/05/2026 20:28

Is it prickly sow thistle. That has a reddish stem and tends to get powdery mildew.

Yamadori · 29/05/2026 20:28

Agree with @Ukholidaysaregreat I think it is a common sowthistle.

Yamadori · 29/05/2026 20:31

They are quite pretty and decorative, but let it go to seed and you can enjoy its 500 babies next year.😁

Canoodler · 29/05/2026 20:35

My Greek friend eats it.

DierdreDaphne · 29/05/2026 20:39

Yup sowthistle. Loads of kinds, usually have yellow flowers (kind of dandelion like but less bright), and insects love them. But as per pp, it seeds down like mad - and it does rather look like a weed when all's said and done, so no need to feel guilty about pulling it out if you don't want it (and it's children and grandchildren)
