Box caterpillar

XenTari worked brilliantly for protecting our little box maze in the past but is no longer on Amazon.

Is there an alternative that works? I have picked off as many as I can, but I just don’t have the time to do this non stop with the children and a full time job. I want to cry as they are just demolishing it 😭

I know people say replace with yew but that would mean days of digging up and a whole new planting scheme to replace something that has been there for decades.

I googled Xantari to see what it was and it appears to be available from other suppliers?

You can get it from the manufacturer Top Buxus

@Pip290 As far as I'm aware, XenTari is not currently approved for amateur use in the UK. So if it is for sale anywhere online, it shouldn't be.

If you do end up losing the hedge, then try planting ilex crenata instead. Looks very similar to box, is slow growing and prunes well.

Yes I realised the point on amateur use. It made we wary of ordering with children and dogs/cats/free ranging hens as I don’t quite understand what makes it unsuitable/safe for an amateur to use. I’m hoping there is something else I can spray instead.

Digging out an entire box maze with well established roots and gravel all around would be an absolute nightmare of a job. Saving them is definitely my priority!

It’s ok for people with licenses to use so you could get a professional to use it for you
