Relocating a cordyline

Has anyone had any success moving a cordyline please? I understand that there is a tap root that I need to move as much of as possible, however there are also some leaves that look a little past their best, should I remove them to reduce the load on the root system?

If so, how should I do that to minimise stress?

Watching as I also have a cordyline I'd like to move. It self seeded in a really awkward spot, but haven't been sure how to move it without killing it.

A big one will be very difficult to dig out. How big is it and how long has it been there?

Good question. About 4 years, and about 3 feet tall, maybe a bit more.

I don't have any choice but to move it as I need to do some repair work where it is currently living.

You'll need to dig around as big as you can to get as much root as possible. Slide it onto a tarpaulin so you can keep the root ball together. Ideally dig a new hole for it before digging it up so you can replant quickly. It will need regular watering for the next couple of summers.

Thank you. It is in a raised bed, so I am hoping to remove the side to get to as much as possible. Fingers crossed.
