Moving a honeysuckle at the wrong time

I've had to reposition my honeysuckle due to work at the bottom of the garden.
I know this is completely the wrong time of year ; what can I do to mitigate ?
It's mature and was drastically cut back in the autumn since when it's put on a lot of growth.
Should I cut this back?

Honeysuckle is a wild hedgerow plant. I think it’s quite tough so you should be able to cut back and move. Or leave a bit of growth on depending how you want it to look.

Thank you @HalfMumHalfBiccit ( Great username!)
Aren't we lucky to have such lovely wild plants.

We are, aren't we? Early spring is the best time, but as HalfMum says, they are essentially a wild plant.

I would cut it back, but not drastically, and mulch well. Take some cutting if you are worried about losing it al all. I've just planted American Beauty, and looking forward to seeing it flourish.

All the best!🌱🌷

@limetrees32 Reduce the new growth by about half, as there won't be enough roots to take up and provide water to all that foliage. Keep well watered right through until autumn.

Lonicera periclymenum is the native honeysuckle, and yours probably won't be that, but a cultivated garden variety.
