Have I left too many leaves on broccoli cuttings?

Took cuttings of purple sprouting broccoli that have rooted well in water and are now potted up but I wonder if I left too many leaves on.

Shall I remove some (seem to think there is a propagating principle of leaving only a couple of leaves) or is it ok to leave them on?

I would take the ones off nearest to the soil. The plant needs to direct its energy into new growth, I believe?

It's a biennial, usually grown from seed. Never heard of taking cuttings of it. Be interesting to see how it fares.

I've never heard of taking cuttings from broccoli.
However the general principle on cuttings is to remove all flowers( there are some flowers on those cuttings) and most of the leaves. I usually remove lower leaves and just leave 2 or 3.

Ok, I’ve given it a trim.

We had bought plug plants so didn’t have seeds so decided to propagate by cuttings.

Not sure if there’ll be crop from these new plants this summer/ autumn or if we’ll have to wait for next spring.

Also, wondering if it’s a perennial crop or if we should cut down the original plants when done harvesting.

It's a biennial. Grows one year, flowers the following year and then dies. I'm.about to remove all of last year's plants.
