Bay tree growing in a bed - how easy to move it to a big pot?

My bay tree has been growing well for about 5 years and is about 2.5 feet high. It's currently in a wooden bed container in my garden. I want to get rid of the bed completely but keep the bay tree

How feasible is it to dig up and replant the bay tree in a large pot? I don't have any other soil available in my garden, it's mostly concrete patio
Thanks

I successfully repotted a lollipop bay a few years ago, when it outgrew the pot it was in. I did it in early spring, so now is probably a good time for you to move yours. Just make sure you get the whole root ball.

You need to get the tap root out intact. I don’t think it will like it but you might be lucky.

Re the tap root, when I repotted mine, the tap root was damaged at the tip. I lost the last few inches and thought I'd probably killed it. It did look dead for a year but I persevered, fed it, watered it and it did recover and looks like a normal, healthy tree again.
