Pheasants and a specific plant

Visiting pheasants like to dust bathe in the corner of a border. There are other places for them to dust bathe, they are spoiled for choice, and I would like to use that corner to plant out the indoor hyacinth bulbs from Christmas, beside those from previous years.

What I need is a plant that will be okay in amongst the hyacinth bulbs to deter the pheasants from that patch of earth; not too tall as there's a broom right beside it; one that won't spread much as it's very near the edge of the border and he who cuts the grass isn't overly concerned about being careful.

Is there such a plant?

I suspect they won't tolerate whatever you choose - it's their dust bath corner now.

Maybe some privacy screening for them so their presence doesn't bother you as much? ;)

Ha ha, thank you @Agapornis , I'll stand there holding a towel up for them with my head turned to one side 😁

I wouldn't mind but the bulbs get pulled/knocked out of the ground which won't be doing them any good. I was thinking a plant in the shape of a dome is what I'm after so might end up with my usual upturned hanging basket go to.

The bees did a great salesbee job when I was at the garden centre the other day - I got three aubretias to put in the spot; maybe not the best choice but if they last the summer the bees should benefit. I planted them, along with the hyacinth bulbs, this afternoon and put an upturned hanging basket over them. The smell from the current hyacinths was just gorgeous. I have that tired but happy feeling 🤗
