I love colourful flowers. I have pots and planters to fill. I’ve previously bought petunias, which are great but what else can I get? Thanks.

Nasturtium will come back every year. Cosmos are another annual

Right now I’ve got primroses in, which should bloom through to May. After that it’s geraniums and petunias for unbeatable colour.

Are you thinking further on,to summer bedding?. begonias are lovely, prefer a bit of shade, lots of colours and scented ones, you can start the corms off now
Lobelia, red, white, different shades of blue, upright trailing.. nasturtiums, you can start the seeds off now, and even eat them in a salad. I have pelargoniums, I save and overwinter
Short variety sweet peas, scented, sow now. Dianthus..I have just this minute planted up a pot of polyanthus to go in the conservatory step... indoors for coffee and rest the back! I have been weeding.

I will be doing lots and lots of geraniums. They thrive in my garden and the color lasts absolutely ages. Less deadheading and watering too compared to petunias.
I will also have cosmos, verbena, begonias in planters.
Dianthus and lavender for fragrance.

Oh,yes, cosmos, also another one to start off now
I tend to grow them in a bed. We live on the edge of a village near the south downs,it's very windy!!

Fuchsias last a very long time here, lovely flowers until December.

Petunias: there are now varieties that don’t need deadheading as they are sterile, look for the ones called “Vista” (limited colours available).

Aubrieta is great for spring colour, very intense violet.

Patio dahlias (like the ones from the “Gallery” series) are compact and good in pots.

Californian poppies are just gorgeous and easy to grow from seed in situ.

I’m partial to a scented leaf pelargonium or two, I can’t quite explain why I like them so much… they have a lot of personality 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m trying to grow tagetes (African marigolds) from seed for the first time, fulling embracing the retro vibe of orange pom-poms.

Impatiens, surfinias, Calibrachoa, lantanas, nicotianas, begonias are other options depending on light level/soil moisture.

Do you have large pots? Do you like to feed and water regularly? You could grow cannas or Brugmansias, both grow huge and spectacular.

Petchoas are a brilliant hassle free colourful display.
