Are woodlouse bad for my garden?

I seem to be overrun with them - especially in the soil of a huge pot in which I have a tree growing.

Also - small shiny irridescent beetles on my lavender...does anyone know what they are and if they are harmful?

Hmm, I've got them too, only on my rosemary (related to lavender, I believe). There's info on them here: www.rhs.org.uk/learning/research/projects/rosemary_beetle.asp. T'aint good news....

I'm too namby to do the picking off bit, and I don't want to harm any cute bees, so I guess I'll be leaving my rosemary to snuff it.

Sorry, should have said I've got the Rosemary beetles too - not noticed a particular infestation of woodlice, to be honest.

According to cbeebies Springwatch woodlice are a good thing in your garden. They haven't mentioned rosemary beetles yet though...

Mmm. This is what the RHS has to say: www.rhs.org.uk/Advice/profiles0202/woodlice.asp. Seem to be benign.

Thanks all!
