Need some advice about (possibly) nasturtium rooted in water

A friend gave me a gift - a glass vase filled with pebbles and a rather lovely nasturtium (I think - if not a nasturtium, then something very similar).

It's gorgeous. Stunning shape

But it's started to droop and wilt within a week. Some leaves turning yellow. Not too hot. Not too bright. Not too dark. Possibly a bit cold? Many, many other plants in the room and all fine.

Friend is generally good with plants but can sometimes be experimental. Is nasturtium in water a thing that lasts? Should I plant it? I'm sad to se it struggling.

To add - friend's only advice was to give it a bit of plant food from time to time. Have not done so yet.

Are you sure it's a nasturtium? Could you put a photo up?

Is nasturtium in water won't last. It's going yellow because it's not getting the nutrients it needs. If it is a nasturtium I don't rate your chances of it thriving if you plant it in soil. They don't transplant well in my opinion. They're an annual and don't last more than one season anyway.

I'll post a pic.

Definitely need a picture.

I think a nasturtium in a glass vase is intended to be temporarily decorative. Pop it in soil if you want to extend its life. Looking forward to the pic!

I guess it will need feeding because although cuttings will form roots in just water it will need nutrients to keep it going. They like a lot of light too. Easier just to grow it in the ground but they don't like their roots disturbed so I don't know how successful it will be. Nasturtiums are generally annuals so it won't come back but they produce lots of large seeds IME.
If you like them then they ae one of the easiest plants to grow I find, they like a lot of sun and quite poor ground. I grow them and calendula in with my veg, both very easy to grow from nice large seeds.

Indeed looks like a nasturtium. What others said.

Nasturtium are not meant to be long-lasting plants like a regular houseplant, they're supposed to be planted outside, in soil, and they only last for a few months.

I can't thing of any (non-pond or weed) plant that would survive in just water.
