Hello
I’ve been given some plants and was just told they are all perennials… but I’d love to know what they are so I can attempt to plant them in the right kind of spot!

if anyone can help identify them I’d be very grateful 🙏 thank you ☺️

3 is rose campion, bright pink flowers. Short-lived perennial, loves sun but tolerates part shade. Frequently self seeds.

First one looks Herby - possibly a mint. Do the leaves small at all?

LemondrizzleShark · 31/05/2025 11:16

Agree 1 looks like mint, but assuming it doesn’t smell minty, it could be Melissa/lemon balm?

2 could be a sunflower. Ours look like that at the moment.

BestIsWest · 31/05/2025 11:50

Is 1 a salvia or sage?

Harveywoo · 31/05/2025 11:53

i think 3 is lychnis (flowers are gorgeous, leaves always look a bit scrubby) at a guess 2 is astilbe or a salvia and 1 looks like a mint relative

Trueloveneverdies · 31/05/2025 14:35

I think one is a salvia and three is a lychnis. Both lovely flowers, should be happy in pots if you water regularly. Free plants, I jealous!

I think number 2 might be a Rudbeckia. I had wondered if it could be an Echinacea but the leaves on mine are much broader.

The leaves do smell but not exactly minty. They actually smell a bit like B.O. 😆

Thanks for all your posts. I think I’ll plant them in the ground and see what happens!

Be warned that the lychnis seeds everywhere. I had one in a pot, now I have them in several pots!

LittleGreenDragons · 31/05/2025 16:08

Purely on guesswork rather than certainly but I would have said lemon balm, echinacea or rudbeckia and lychnis coronaria. The last one is so pretty.

AlwaysGardening · 31/05/2025 19:05

Salvia, Echinacea and Silene coronaria
