Hello

After some advice please - first pic shows a tree with upright branches , just curious as to what type of tree this is and if it could cause any issues with nearby house ?

second pic is trees at the back which look a little dead to me ? Is it wise to get the branches cut down /back to tidy it up ?

they look like this even in May

The branches are upright because it's been pollarded in the past. I think it's time for another pollard, get a qualified tree surgeon to do it (not just a general gardener, there is a skill to it). Can't tell which species without a more detailed photo of bark, buds, leaves.

Can you post similar details for the second shrub/tree?

Are there no leaves at all? We're at the end of May, so if there's nothing sprouting, it does sound like they're not in good health, or dead. Can you reach any of the small twiggy bits - do they bend or just snap?

The first one has been pollarded as a pp says, so that is probably a lime.

The other one is a collection of dead sticks. Are you sure the photos are recent, they don't look like it to me, judging by the grass and other plants in the pics.
