Plants for pots in South facing garden

Hello

I'm without green fingers, but I do have a fair few pots that are waiting for plants/flowers! The garden is South facing, some sunny spots. I wonder if anyone can make some colourful recommendations for what I could stick in pots?

Thanks

Pelargoniums do well in pots. They are drought tolerant and tough to kill. You can pick up a pack of plug plants from the supermarket, they cost very little and flower for a long time.

I have lots of things growing in pots, so the good news is you have lots of options.

How big are your pots?

Do you want annuals or perennials?

Are you willing to water/fertilise them? Pots can need water as often as twice a day in summer, depending on the type of pot and what you put in them. Annuals need frequent fertilising to keep them flowering.

Pots are quite big and yes, willing to water

Plant anything you fancy, pansies, pelagonium etc in small pots. Patio roses are great in big pots. Im trying yo move to perennial plants rather than bedding, but Just plant lots. Dont fuss too much about what goes with what. and don't spread them out too much.

Pictures of my Patio just because I'm really pleased with it this year. Takes a lot of watering though.

You can plant anything in pots, I’ve got a small rose, fuchsias, calla lilies, pansies, lavender.

They need daily watering in the summer and weekly feeding (I use tomato feed.)

I have a south facing garden and pots need a lot of watering if it’s very sunny. I try and out them somewhere they don’t get blasted by heat all day. I like annuals in pots, instant colour and grow very quickly

I recommend a rock rose. It’s evergreen, doesn’t need too much watering if in a decent size pot, flowers all summer. Convulvulus cneorum is good too but lower/smaller.

Erigeron (Mexican daisy), again not too much water needed, flowers for months on end if in sun.!

Vinca is good if you want something spilling over the edge of a pot. Very tough and evergreen with pretty flowers - and being in a pot will stop it taking over. Would look good planted round the base of a small shrub.

Geraniums are also good in pots and don’t need loads of water.
