I bought 3 of these recently after seeing some amazing large ones in a pot outside a house. I think I know what to do with them over the summer but no idea about winter.

I read they don't need much water at all so do I need to move them undercover when it starts raining? They are in a sunny patio so very sheltered from wind and it's a real hot spot.

i move them into the greenhouse over winter and keep them unwatered. Before I ha£ a greenhouse I kept them outside under the eaves of the house by a wall so out of rain and sheltered from frost ( we ge5 some frost but not often, if you get a lot of frost then you could fleece them if frost is forecast.). A house down the road from me leaves them out all year just fine.

I brought mine in and put them on a sunny windowsill last winter but I can’t say they loved it and they are still not looking great this year. Hoping for advice here for next year!

@BigDahliaFan I was trying to think of some kind of cover I could put over them for when it does get rainy but I could move them to the eaves of the house as that will keep them dryer.

i don’t think they are happy inside as it gets too hot. An unseated porch would be OK if you are in a cold area. But honestly if you are somewhere where it doesn’t get too cold just keeping them dry (ish) does in my experience. They are so easy to take from cuttings I’ve usually got spares too. But I’m in a maritime sheltered area, even though I am up north.

Don't have anywhere unheated with windows but what do you think of these for the winter ...just found them? https://www.rhsplants.co.uk/product/_/open-topped-glass-cloche/classid.2000028458/
