Does anyone know about climbing roses?

I’m driving myself mad and going in circles.

I want a climbing rose for an east facing fence, preferably peachy in colour.

Would prefer disease resistant and if it has a long flowering season that would be ideal.

So can anyone help me with some suggestions please?

I have a "Scent From Heaven" rose which does well in part shade, is extremely healthy and flowers profusely with a good scent. It might be a bit more on the orangey side for you though, but worth growing imo.

This one might fit the bill. If not you can search the website by type and colour to find something else. I love climbing roses, they are the best type of rose, good luck.

Ive just been looking again, I really am going around in circles. That’s one of the ones I’ve been looking at again. It doesn’t help that I can’t completely settle in which colour I prefer. I’ve always loved roses so figd it hard to choose. My DF who lived through WW11 was always proud of his “Peace” roses which he grew in the front garden.

No help for roses (you just have to pick one from DA Wink) but growing a clemetis up the rose lengths the flowering season because you get both

I have this one which is very good, it’s a rambler but would produce the same effect

It also has the RHS award of merit.
Bathsheba, from David Austin, lovely as it is, is not one of their most resilient/disease resistant if that is a concern.

We have this on an east facing fence. I don’t know if it’s peachy enough for you but it’s beautiful and smells delicious.

Just go for it! Buy one that catches your eye, you can always get another ❤️

Maybe I’m doing something wrong (it is in a big planter) but my Claire Austin is not long flowering at all.

Probably not you! That’s me least reliable one too. Maybe try giving it some miracle grow rose and shrub feed, that helped mine a little.

Thank you for that. We have a tricky garden.

I’ve never had trouble growing anything before but struggle with a few things here. We’ve had repeated tomato blight and even Lily beetles which I’d never even seen before.

I just don’t want to buy a lovely, climbing rose only for it to suffer with things like mildew or rust.

And that Phyllis Bide looks beautiful and it’s not one that I’d seen before Smile

I’m about to plant this rose, but OP if you like Peace, which is a beautiful rose, I think you can get it in climbing form , I will go and look.

Christwosheds · 11/05/2025 15:52

I’ve checked and yes Peace is available as a climber as well as a bush. A few places sell it.

BunnyRuddington · 11/05/2025 15:54

I also like Bring Me Sunshine after seeing it at the Emma Bridgewater Factory last summer but not sure if it works as a climber?
