Currentky in Paris & passed a few of these today. They really caught my eye but I am so clueless so no idea what they are!
Anyone care to help?

Google lens says Judas Tree.

I think Judas tree, too. If not that (it's not a very clear picture) try Persian silk tree?

I think it’s a Judas tree. They look lovely for 5 minutes of the year and scabby for most of it and they shed, and shed, and shed big leaves for months on end.

Are the flowers growing out of where the bark is rather than at the tips of the branches? If so then it is a judus tree.

It’s a Cercis but possibly not the Judas tree (Cercis siliquastrum) which has flowers growing directly from the branches, but they tend to appear before the leaves. Based on the amount of foliage in the picture I think this is probably Cercis canadensis or one of its varieties

NautilusLionfish · 15/04/2025 09:57

Do you remember the leaf shape op? Cercis siliquastrum and Cercis canadensis as suggested by Trethew can look very similar. The latter will have more rounded leaves the former (commonly called Eastern Redbush or confusingly American Judas tree) has pointed almost heart shaped.

Do you have more close up pics?

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 15/04/2025 09:59

Most likely Cercis Canadensis.

All the Cercis Siliquiastrum I see in blossom now don't have leaves yet.

Beautiful trees.
