Need a lightweight, cordless one.

Can anyone recommend one please.

I like Bosch as a make. Can't remember the precise model that I'm using.

I've had this one for 5 years now. It's never let me down, and I do put it through it's paces! Neighbour ha ha'd at me for not getting petrol... Yeah nurr nurr 😂

I've got a Stihl one which I would recommend. I can't remember which one, but it's probably more powerful than you would need as I have a big garden.

Saw that one and it’s currently on offer!

It's always been good to me. I use it under my hedges which are full of ivy growing and nettles at the back. It's hit a few random unexpected thick brambles and is still going strong.

Comes with a spare reel.

My front garden goes mad as I live opposite fields - I can't even call it grass... Start at top, strim it down.

It doesn't feel that powerful if you're used to a plug in or diesel but it's been fine.

I also like the fact that when the battery is fully charged, it goes from 99 to FU 🤣
Full up?!

I sound like a blummin sales person! I love my strimmer 😂

I’ve got a Bosch. Think it was around 100 quid. Battery lasts well. Would recommend.

I understand your love! I'm not a fan of shears, not when I’ve got loads of weeding!

Had a look at this Bosch one for £80; normally price is without battery but battery being offered free.

I've got one of those and hate it! It's really awkward and heavy compared to my last one (can't remember the make) and I get backache every time I use it.

nhsmanagersanonymous · 08/04/2025 20:42

That looks like my Bosch but it came with battery included

Apparently Bosch give option of purchasing without battery since battery is interchangeable between their equipment.

Do you think? Horses for courses I guess. It's the first one I had that extended and bent in different directions. Adjustable positions is a better phrase. It doesn't bend. I'm quite tall though.

I still love it (I feel if I don't keep saying it, that it will die on me tomorrow!)

I still have to do the hedge 🙄 I'd be a neighbourhood outcast should any shoot grow longer than 10 inches!

I just use Argos own brand yellow ones for that.

I loved my first one so think maybe this is just slightly worse in comparison. It's definitely worse for edging the lawn. Wish I could remember what my first one was!

Ah, we don't have lawns here you see. True.

I moved in to a jungle. Apparently they were council houses built in the 50s. Back and front were just left as... Mud (?).

With a little love and care, I've gone from strimming to (neighbours - you'll never get a mower over that) to somewhat of a grass lawn. That said, if you compared it to a layed lawn, it would look like I've cut it with a knife and fork 😂 I think that's why I love my strimmer so much. It can cope with hardier than expected finds yet has never been called in to action for edging 🤣

TheBuffetInspector · 08/04/2025 21:52

I know you are supposed to be able to swivel the thingyjiggy round for edging, but I've just gone in boots and goggles 😂

Good luck @Maggiethecat with your choice. I'm off to bed before I can jinx my precious 😂
