What a thread title

fondant4000 · 11/05/2008 21:18

Is it this one ceanothus ?

We had a big one, but it just died last week for some unknown reason

WilfSell · 11/05/2008 21:19

oh ho ho ho...

blue? not black (sambucus nigra=black elderberry)?

wessexgirl · 11/05/2008 21:19

My blue bush is the envy of my neighbours too! It's a ceanothus.

FloridaKbear · 11/05/2008 21:20

tissy · 11/05/2008 21:21

i have a lovely pink bush, in my front garden,
as a stranger walking past my house pointed out

policywonk · 11/05/2008 21:26

Ah yes, I have one too. Fantastic colour. The flowers don't last long though (I think? Or was it just that last summer was so awful that all mine died early?)

NaughtyNigella · 11/05/2008 21:31

i've hear that superdrug are now doing special hair dye specialy for ones bush - blue, pink, grren.
interesting

southeastastra · 11/05/2008 21:31

they're so vivid, i really want one

OP posts:
GrapefruitMoon · 12/05/2008 13:52

fondant, I read once that they only last for around 5 years before dying - but mine are a lot older. I actually wish one of them would die off as it has got too big for where it is. Flowers are lovely though!

PuppyMonkey · 12/05/2008 13:53

Best thread title ever..

VeniVidiVickiQV · 12/05/2008 13:54

They are stunning, tis true. BUT, at close range they STINK, and, the little petals stick to EVERYTHING.

They exacerbate my hayfever when in flower too.

So, if you get one (buy small - they grow bloody quick!), plant it at the end of your garden, or, away from paths/patios.

That's strange, my Ceanothus died as well, had to cut it down. My front garden looks so bare now

MadBadandDangeroustoKnow · 17/05/2008 21:12

Ceanothus often die if pruned too severely. My MIL paid a lot of money to a so-called gardener who hacked the ceanothus so much that it expired.

My neighbour does too.....are you my neighbour as well?

PMSL at the thread title though!

fishie · 17/05/2008 21:18

i have tried to kill several of them by overpruning and it didn't work (digging up does it!) they are a bit of a pain in a small garden.

Greensleeves · 17/05/2008 21:19

fuck me, can you get blue rinse for your cunt? I must be getting old

2point4kids · 17/05/2008 21:20
