Hi all. The title says it all really. Where are good places to get bare root plants from please?

And thanks all who recommended the felco secaturs before. I got some for Christmas and they are brilliant.

For bare root roses David Austin is the place that immediately springs to mind:

I’m planning to order from Farmer Gracy. Have only bought their bulbs and was very happy with these so will try their bare roots.

It depends on what you are buying - roses? Hedging? RHS website plant finder is good for recommendations for specialist nurseries.

The bare root perennials you get in garden centres on hanging racks are a bit hit and miss in my experience, except the dahlias which tend to be tough as old boots as tubers but need a lot of food and water to flower well.

I was after perennials really. Nothing particular but just wanted to see what is out there

Is there a good localish nursery that grows bare root plants? We live in the NE of England and our garden designer recommended to buy from R V Roger who are based in North Yorkshire because their plants are hardier than those from the big nationals who tend to have their nurseries in the south. If you're in Scotland then somewhere like Scot Plants Direct who are based in Fife.

I am in Yorkshire so that is a good shout. Thanks. Will check them out.
