Horseradish

Advice please, have just taken delivery of 5 thongs. They look good and have green shoots atop of a chunky piece of root.
The raised bed they are destined to occupy is awaiting the harvesting of the resident Jerusalem artichokes.
Until this is done, how should I store the thongs?
Many thanks

I have always planted mine in containers as it can spread quite a distance otherwise so you could always just pot them up in tubs to start with.

I agree with the above. I made the mistake of planting them in a raised bed and they've spread all over the garden and are a complete nightmare to remove. Interestingly I had a mint problem from the next door neighbour and the horseradish has even managed to suffocate that.

Try putting some compost into a deep tray and lay them on top so the roots can grow.

plant into pots not a raised border as it spreads like you wouldn’t believe. I plant into a tub then plant into the boarder to hide the tub. But you must lift once a year to cut the roots growing out the bottom to keep it contained

Thank you all. The last lot I planted 3 years ago just didn't take, so I want to give this lot their best chance. They will be in partial shade, which is not ideal, but perhaps will limit their rampant nature
