I have small hands so use a Felco No 6 - they’re light and easy to sharpen as needed too.

Second the Felco recommendation. Pricey but a lifetime investment.

Just bought my second pair of Felcos! I look after them much better because they were expensive - make sure they are cleaned and put away, and DH sharpens them every so often.

I know that a Mumsnetter did take the makers up on the deal to send them back for refurbishment, and said they came back like new, so they are worth the investment.

Another for Felco 6s. I take mine apart each winter and give them a good clean and oil and have replaced the spring twice and they are as good as new each time. I do sharpen mine weekly during the year when I'm using them heavily and keep a sharpening stone ready in my potting shed.

As above, Felcos.
Although I do have my eye on a pair of battery powered ones, they seem to have very good reviews but quite an investment!

I got some felcos for Christmas after someone on here recommended them. I have only used them a little bit but they are a much better size for my hands than ones I have had before.

I've got a pair of Felco 2 I bought as a student in 1991. They've been serviced by Burton McCall once since then, still going strong. As horticulture students we got a discount and paid about £40 for them (I can't remember exactly as it was so long ago!) so they represent good value per cut, plus the price hasn't increased that much despite inflation.

Get a holster for them if you will do a lot of pruning, save your pockets getting worn through

I have some made by Niwaki. Someone asked what they were like to use and the first word that sprang to mind was orgasmic.

Get a holster for them if you will do a lot of pruning, save your pockets getting worn through Or put them in your pocket handles downward.

I asked the same question @Campb3lls back in October and after recommendations I have Felco ( for small hands ) they were £42 and make life so much easier
No hand strain or blisters and they are red handled so easier to find .

The Japanese brands feel like precision instruments: Okatsune, Niwaki, Tobisho. I use Japanese dressmaking scissors too.
