Does anyone have a wildlife camera in their garden?

I'm not into photography or tech but would like to see what the creatures get upto in my garden.

Does anyone have a camera for this purpose? What sort is it? Is lighting required? And knowhow?

Meeee!
It was from Amazon, about 2ish years ago. I also bought an sd card and rechargeable batteries. Mine is wifi-enabled so each day I log in from the comfort of my home to download load the evening's photos.

I bought it mainly as we have hedgehogs, who I feed every night and it gives me great joy to see them.

No additional lighting or skills required.

I've got Trail Pro off Amazon.

There's an app and likewise no additional lighting required, motion triggered. I like to watch the foxes 😇

DH has a couple of cameras which he puts out now and again. No lighting required - they switch to infra red after dark. Camera triggered by motion, so you have to be careful where to sight them else you have endless video clips of leaves blowing in the wind. Need to experiment with distance - if things are coming past too close, the trigger time lag means you see lots of tips of tails.

Tedious bit is going through masses of video clips - yes, you’ll get your neighbourhood badgers, but you’ll also get umpteen ones of your neighbour’s cat wandering through not doing anything remotely interesting.

A friend has masses of security cameras round her house, all rigged up to a tv, so she watches live.

Yes, I've had several that I've bought from Amazon. Since only one has lasted longer than three years I can't recommend a brand but I will say all of mine have cost less than £50 which might be a factor 😬

Mine use AA batteries and come with a tiny screen for viewing or a cable so you can bring it indoors and link it to a laptop. Some have wide angle (120°), some have greater distance (25m) but usually all have night vision and photo or video or both. Videos do take a lot of battery life though.

I've seen a lot of wildlife over the years from piggies to unusual birds on the feeder to baby foxes 😍 I've also seen one or two mice tails hanging out of those fox's mouths 😱 Also seen starving strays that I've managed to save/hand over to rescue (on our 5th atm).
