Lonely frog - will my pond suit?

My garden is next door to a property that has lots of frogs living in the corner of their garden where they have basically a muddy puddle. The frogs sing beautifully in spring/summer.

I just found one of them on the edge of my fish pond, looking in wistfully. Pond is a small-ish sunken pond built into our patio. Measures about 2 feet deep, and 3ftx3ft. It has five goldfish who are thriving, but we are having no luck with keeping pond plants healthy (lilies, some kind of floating green meshy thing, etc[. Also, maybe most crucially, as a frog you could easily jump into this pond but not easily get out, as there is a kind of lip that hangs over the edge.

I want to attract any wildlife that would like to inhabit said pond, but is it suitable for frogs if they can't easily get out? I mean, it seems obvious to me that no, not suitable, but a self-proclaimed wildlife lover I know disagrees with me.

I have googled how to make a frog-friendly pond, but the trouble is that our pond is already built and cannot easily be changed. But perhaps a ramp of some sort is all it would take?

A ramp should do it.

Can you put some large stones in that can make a set of steps for the frogs to get in and out?

Goldfish will likely eat the tadpoles so if you want froggy grandchildren you either need a shedload of vegetation for the tadpoles to hide in or to rehome the fish.

Oh thank you! Goodness me I want at least some of the tadpoles to survive, if froggy love were to visit the premises. The stones... I'll have a think. Since the pond is quite deep with no slope at all (a bit like a swimming pool[ that would steal of lot of territory from the fishies.
So I think, lots of vegetation which is anyway what I'd like frogs or no frogs, and a ramp.
Thank you!

Yes you need a ramp, or to build up an area where they can get out. All ponds should have this, as hedgehogs drown in ponds with no way out, as can other small mammals , or even cats.
Having a safe way in and out will help your pond support frogs and toads as well as other wildlife. I wonder why your plants won’t grow though, that suggests an issue with the water but as your fish are happy the water should be fine. Maybe you need to make the bottom of the pond a bit more full of life and have some stones and sediment in there.
A lip that overhangs inwards is a very bad thing for a pond generally. I would redo the pond or try and build up towards the lip inside with stones, but as an interim measure a couple of ramps would help.

I wonder why your plants won’t grow though, that suggests an issue with the water or maybe just the presence of the fish.

Defo need a ramp, in case hedgehogs or other small creatures fall in.

Fix a wooden plank on the diagonal so the bottom end of it is floating in the water and creatures can climb up it to escape.

Thanks again! The water is treated carefully but I must admit I just follow instructions after buying the product that seems to fit the current state of pond eg algo-clear and sludge-clear…
The ramp is going in this weekend after I get back from hospital!

If you google pond ladder for frogs there's lots of different types or put a pile of pebbles in so they can climb up those.

If you wanted a wildlife pond, you’d need to get rid of the fish and the products.
