Front garden help!

We've finally cleared out our front garden but don't know what to do next.

We're going to have a cobbled path put in (shown in blue) and would ideally like some bin storage along the boundary as well. I'd love to plant something for ground cover that won't need mowing and will look nice year round, without too much maintenance. I wondered about creeping thyme but have been advised that this requires full sun (front garden is NE facing).

Any bright ideas from more experienced gardeners? Thanks in advance!

My front garden at my previous house was north facing, and after trying to battle with a lawn aka moss, I took it all up and created a woodland inspired garden. We had bark on the soil and some tiny white violets appeared, I assume from that. We planted a silver birch on one side which took up a lot of the space. We already had a euronymus and a cotoneaster and planted a honeysuckle against the wall with irises in front of it, and several rosemary shrubs and some peonies. We did have a penstemon which did well for a few years. But tbh, the garden looked nice with the tree and the canopy underneath. Maybe plant a smaller tree as I think the silver birch may have caused some issues (it's no longer there) and create a similar landscape and plant some woodland loving bulbs underneath.

Winter and summer heathers will give all round colour. They are easy to maintain

They won’t be enthusiastic about that overhanging tree

My front garden is similar, as in North facing and pavement tree. I have beds and pots with lavender, salvia, begonias, primula, violets, cyclamen, rose, blueberries, patio apple, sage, chives, fuschia, hydrangea, calla lily, bleeding heart and spring bulbs. All pop up happily amd are pretty low maintenance. Except for the rose, which is a bit of a diva.
