Heating a greenhouse

Hi!
My new greenhouse (8foot x 8foot)is a fair distance from my house (20 yards) and has no power supply. I just need to provide a little heat on sub-freezing days. I was considering a portable power supply (around £150 from Amazon) and a low-wattage (40W) greenhouse tube heater (£30 from Amazon).
I wondered if anyone had any experience of this or any alternative solutions?
Thanks!

Greenhouse paraffin heater.
Made for the job, cheap and no messing about with power supplies.

made for the job of heating greenhouses. Not made for the job of heating tree frog accommodation.

This may be a stupid suggestion but would having a small vivarium type set up in the greenhouse with a frog sized entrance in it and heat that rather than the whole greenhouse. Then if they are cold they can seek refuge in their nice warm house?

"Definitely getting a thermostat Mere, maybe I can get Alexa to let me know if it is freezing outside!"

If you bought a Tapo T310 Smart Hygrometer, Thermometer & Humidity Meter and connect it to a Tapo Hub (H100) - that would cost you about £30 on Amazon. This would allow you to receive alerts, save data, integrate with Alexa, etc. If you had an electric heater plugged in to a smart plug you could set up routines on Alexa - If temp drops below 7 degrees, turn on heater, if temperature is above 7 degrees, turn off heater, etc.

If you had an electric heater plugged in to a smart plug you could set up routines on Alexa - If temp drops below 7 degrees, turn on heater, if temperature is above 7 degrees, turn off heater, etc. A non-smart heater with a thermostat could be set to do this.

My love of tech solutions often means I overlook the obvious!

Thanks guys, very useful and I am now convinced that the best option is to go for a proper power supply (and a fancy hygrometer, thermometer etc connected to Alexa). Thanks again!

It is really the best option, I just hope the quote doesn’t give you a heart attack! You can’t mess about with electrics in a greenhouse.

In the long term it will save you no end of faff.

I do have foxes - so I think I will forget the cable idea. I know cables can be put underground but that would be a massive job, so off the table.

I use an amoured cable (from.Screwfix) to run power to a shed, after an extension lead was chew to pieces by foxes. The amoured cable has not been damaged it is connected to a RCD outlet.
