Shall I plant out my echinacea?

Hi I bought some echinacea mini plugs from Thompson and Morgan. They are now about 10cm tall and have 5 or more leaves each. Just not sure what to do as its a bit late in the year to plant them out? But also not sure if they would survive on my window sill all winter? Thanks

I would be inclined to pot them up and plant out in the spring. Have you got a sheltered spot outside where you could keep them?

Agree with @Turkeyhen

I'm sure I put mine out last autumn and they were lovely this year.
Gardeners World last week were saying to get perennials and biannuals out as the ground would still be warm enough for root growth for another month.

Whereabouts are you?

Is your soil alkaline? Echinacea are prone to disappear over the winter in the ground. And because of the wet weather slugs & snails are still polishing off young growth. If so pot them up and keep in a sheltered area/in a greenhouse until next Spring.

Thanks soil is chalky so I guess it would be alkaline I will keep growing them on.
