Flamingo Willow diseased?

Can anyone help identify this problem? My Flamingo willow leaves started turning brown and patchy in June. They did the same last year and I thought it was lack of water but I'm not sure if it is actually diseased. The bottom branches are still green

Any ideas? Pics attached

Might be a dodgy graft. They don't grow well on their own roots so the flamingo variety is usually grafted onto a bog-standard willow trunk and roots. If you look at where the stems join the trunk you might find it is all calloused and lumpy there. Not a lot you can do unfortunately.

Could you take cuttings @Yamadori ? Willow is usually dead easy to root

Yamadori · 26/09/2024 21:23

Yes, they do take from cuttings I think. Worth a go anyway.

Thank you, I'll take a look at the graft when it's stopped raining. It did ok for the first two years though, it's just last year it was dodgy, but I was away for two months and it didn't get watered. And this year it's worse. It looked lovely late spring then this happened...

Ooh mines done this too, but it's growing from the bottom of the trunk so I'm confused.

@Greenfingersorangetoes If it is growing from the bottom it will be the ordinary willow rootstock and not the flamingo variety.
