Neighbours fences

NDN (who we don’t typically get on well with due to their anti social behaviour) has new fences between our gardens. They have painted them and the paint has come through in drips on our side so the fences look awful. There are also paint splatters on our slabs and plants that I’m not happy about, but I have bought some cleaner to remove it. I know however I don’t have the legal right to do anything about the fences. They won’t let us paint them out of spite.
Can anyone advise how to cover the fences to hide the ugly view please ( I can’t afford my own fences right now) thanks

I can only suggest the Gardenlaw website in terms of painting / staining rights

I’m sure someone will be along soon with plant suggestions

Thank you

Conifers, bamboo, hedging? Eventually put your own fence up perhaps, but I’d go with heavy duty coverage.

They won’t even let you paint it the same colour? Christ.

Bamboo (with a root barrier preventing it from spreading into your garden).

KerryBlues · 16/09/2024 12:47

Would they notice if you painted your side the same colour?

ErrolTheDragon · 16/09/2024 13:00

Wouldn't painting it the same colour as they used help preserve it?

Moretetrafish · 16/09/2024 13:02

Just paint it the same colour. If they took you to court they will be told to stop being ridiculous. Or put something infront of the fence.

Probably bad advice. A bit of googling suggests that - amazingly - the OP would be in the wrong, they might end up with significant costs.

And who wants the stress of a court case anyway?

pinkroses79 · 16/09/2024 13:32

I painted my neighbours fence on my side. I don't think anyone has even noticed, how would they see if they weren't in your garden?

Hatfullofwillow · 16/09/2024 13:34

What are the dimensions of the fence?

notacooldad · 16/09/2024 13:35

Have you asked them outright about painting.
You said they won't let you but how did the conversation go?

Tessasanderson · 16/09/2024 17:13

One of our neighbours ripped down a shared fence and replaced it with a new one. Admittedly it was a much nicer fence but it also wasnt the same colour as the rest of our fences now. We straight away repainted the fence in the matching colour.

Our thinking was if they wanted to argue it was 'their' fence, then we would follow it up with asking them to reinstate 'our shared' fence which they removed without permission. In the end there was no such discussion thankfully.

Water your plants that are in front of it daily...
