Are these bedding plants annuals?

Looking for some wisdom please!

I bought a pre-selected tray of plants at B&Q at the end of spring which were a mixture of trailing lobelia, geraniums and petunias. They've done brilliantly for what was about £12 I think.

Thing is, I can't remember if they were annuals or perennials so I'm wondering whether to pull them all out of the pot they're in when they stop flowering, or to expect them back next spring.

Can anyone advise please?

They will die as soon as there is a hard frost. You can keep the geranium indoors if you dig them up before October. They will keep green in a low key way over winter and be much bigger for next year.

Lobelias and petunias are, but you might get the geraniums (pelargoniums) to overwinter and do another year if you can protect them from frost and depending on which variety.

As said, they are all annuals, but the geraniums (more correctly, pelargoniums), if lifted, repotted and kept away from frost and wet, cold soil, can be overwintered. Or take some cuttings now and 'strike' them on a bright, warm windowsill indoors to increase your stock.

The lobelia, like a good many other annuals, may well seed themselves in unexpected places, like cracks between paving slabs, and germinate of their own volition next spring. Honeywort, nicotine, pansies and snapdragons, amongst others, will also do this
