Any idea what’s wrong with my passion flower?

I was wondering if anyone could please tell me what’s wrong with my passionflower?

It was bought/planted in April when it was small, maybe 40cm tall. It has (I thought!) done really well, shot up and covered a trellis and been putting out flowers since June. It’s south facing tho does get some shade later in the afternoon as the sun moves to the west.

However, some leaves, mainly at the bottom of the plant are yellowing. At first it was just one or two but now it’s half a dozen or more. It’s still flowering/sending out shoots like crazy.

Should I be worried?

Thank you

As a non-gardener, I would assume it's putting effort into new leaves and flowers so has less resources to spend on the older leaves. But I openly admit I know nothing!

I'm very jealous of your beautiful plant! My passionflower has only grown one branch with some leaves and what looks like it might become a flower but who knows. Yours is lush!

Thank you. It’s done exceptionally well, all luck, no skill on my part I’m afraid!

This was it when I bought it in April.

We had them one year and they were beautiful but then they seemed to die off

I'd be inclined to agree with this. They're probably the oldest leaves and not absorbing as much light down at the bottom. Combined with less sunlight, as we move into Autumn. Looks healthy overall.

Try giving it a little Tomorite (half rec. dose) next summer.

Mine took several years to get going properly, in the frozen north. But when we had that super hot summer it went absolutely bananas, producing actual fruit! So very temperature sensitive I think.

There's nothing wrong with it, and as a pp says, it is putting its energy into new growth. It doesn't need the oldest leaves any more so it is jettisoning them.

I can't believe I may have been right!

What colour are the flowers, OP?

I'm encouraged by that ... For the first time this year I've tried growing some from seed. I can't remember when I started them, probably towards the end of the sowing range on the packet. They were started indoors then moved to the growhouse...the larger ones are still only about a foot tall. So I'm not sure what to do with them - I'm in Lancashire so unsure about their chances of surviving the winter.

They are the standard coloured ones, with white petals and purple middles.
