I want David Austin QoS roses to form part of my planting scheme for my border refurb. they are my favourite rose. The border is approx 70ft x 5ft. South west facing garden. I intend on having 3 repeated planting blocks separated by two winter flowering honeysuckle bushes and obelisks with Korean clematis and white passionflowers or possibly jasmine. Plants will be mainly perennials and so far I have some grasses, salvia, hollyhocks, nepeta, Japanese anemones, euphorbia, liatris, peonies

How many Queen of Sweden bushes would you put in ? I also have an existing Boscobel from our old house that will be staying put. I'm planning to plant the border early next year as I have very little money to plant it and have to propagate or divide quite a lot myself so need a bit of time to get everything together. So I'm looking at bare roots from David Austin in the autumn, is this the most cost effective way ?

I have some QoS and the growth is very upright. You'll need to take that into consideration with your spacing as you might need more than if you chose a more spreading variety.

Here is the guide. www.davidaustinroses.co.uk/blogs/rose-care/how-far-apart-should-shrub-roses-be-planted

Bare root is going to be more effective. You could take cuttings to bulk up.
