What’s wrong with my trachelospermum jasminoides?

Some leaves are red (some leaves have remained red since winter) and some have developed this odd white pattern. It’s definitely not eggs/webs on the surface of the leaf.

I’m not losing any leaves, they just look odd. Very little flowering going on.

Is it too cold and wet? The plants were put in last year and are in a position where they get plenty of sun (when it’s actually sunny…).

Any ideas, gardeners? I haven’t seen any photos online that look like this. I’m wondering if I should dig them up and put them in pots against a sunny wall instead.

Looks like leaf miner damage.

The surface of the leaf isn’t broken up at all, it’s completely smooth, would that tally with leaf miner damage? It looks almost as if white paint has been injected into the leaf, it’s quite pretty. The lack of growth and flowers are making me wonder if the white colouring is a problem.

Can't help sorry, but strangely we've noticed the exact same on ours. It's been planted in the same location for the last 4 or 5 years I think, absolutely fine til this year. We're in Norfolk and it's been really warm and dry for weeks, plant gets a fair bit of sun which I thought they like but I wonder if it's too dry?......

Interesting! I spent ages online and couldn’t find any photos that looked the same. Mine are in a v wet part of the world and have been in a year, so maybe I could take a chance and move them.

I’m sure I recall a fantastic post by Pollyanna Wilkinson on star jasmine issues but I can’t find it - on her Instagram. Red leaves normally mean they’re thirsty if I recall correctly.
ive never had any luck with them :(

Thirsty?! I live in NI, I was more worried about them drowning! Grin

Mine had the same. I did some research which suggested mineral deficiency. I fed it really well with some high NPK fertiliser and the newer leaves aren't mottled. I have no idea if that'll solve the issue long term but it seems to have made a difference for now!

Some of mine are red too, which I read means they aren’t happy. I have fed them and have watered when it’s gone from wet to v hot. They’ve always recovered in the last few years.
