hello

we have a large lelanday tree (apologies for spelling) in back garden which we want to cut down but wanted to find out who we should consult first as we don't want to cause any damage to house. There is also a tree in front garden which is very close to house which we want to cut down but again don't want to cause damage to house and we live in conservation area. House is also on the market as well. any advice on who to contact. thank you in advance!!!

If you are in a conservation area you need permission to cut down trees - you should contact the council, they will tell you the process to follow.

Council should have a tree inspecter who might be able to help

Otherwise consult a qualified arborist?

It might also be worth talking to your insurers to see if they have a position (re. possible subsidence)

Leylandii are a nuisance.

But you need to get advice (a) from your council and (b) a tree surgeon/landscape gardener. For the latter, talk to at least 3 to get quotes and advice - there are a lot of cowboys in the business and difficult to tell who is good and who not.
