1. What the heck is it? 2. How do I deal with it?

This is literally taking over. I keep pulling it out but I swear the next day it’s back, even bigger! It all seems to be low down. Along the bottom of the house & creeping along the garage.

I’ve no idea what it is so would appreciate any/all words of wisdom as to the best way to remove it from my life.

For context (no idea if it relevant), we’re West coast of Scotland.

Many thanks.

Ivy Leaved Toadflax, AKA Kenilworth Ivy (Cymbalaria muralis) - why do you want to remove it? A very pretty wildflower which gives a 'softening' look to harsh concrete and looks lovely tumbling down walls

Many thanks @Hedgesfullofbirds

It simply grows so quickly that if I don’t remove it I feel it will cover the entire house! Any idea how it spreads? My neighbours don’t seem to have any.

I love it! YY to softening the lines.

I have in my back garden going along the edges. I really love it. Very pretty.

Thanks all.

So if I just allow it to do its own thing, will it simply create a pretty look and the growth may slow down a little? Am I encouraging growth by removing it?

I don't think you're encouraging growth by removing it. I've always left mine and it spreads along the edges but certainly hadn't taken over the garden.

If it’s happy It will keep growing, and yours is clearly happy. It’s especially happy in vertical inhospitable places like cracks in stone walls that are not too hot and sunny. If you really want rid you could try weedkiller, but it is a benign little thing and very pretty.

I have this in my weedy garden (SE so different climate to Scotland) it can cover quite large areas. I only pull it out where it's choking out plants I like.

Thanks all.

If I go silent you know it’s because while out in the garden the Ivy Leaved Toadflax has wrapped it’s rapidly growing tendrils round my neck & strangled me!!!!! (but at least the house will look pretty!) 😆
