Is it too late to 'rejuvenate prune' this shrub? I should have done it after flowering but didn't get around to it. It's about 9 ft tall and encroaching depth-wise on my small patio. Thanks!

It’s maintenance pruning that should be done after flowering, an all over trim to maintain current size. Rejuvenation pruning when you take out whole branches nearly at the base should be done in the dormant period.

If you do the maintenance pruning at the wrong time, you won’t do any harm, but you may lose a year’s flowers.

I was planning to rejuvenate to get the size more manageable. Would that also mean I lose a years flowering?

I'd bite the bullet and do it now. It isn't quite the right time, but you don't want to have to wait until next May. There are still several months of the growing season left, and it probably won't flower quite as well next year, but needs must, as they say.

Thanks!
