Honeysuckle only flowering at the bottom

I have a honeysuckle in flower at the moment but the flowers are all no higher than about 1m from the ground. It’s put on masses of growth but all on extremely long tendrils (each about 2m) which are leaves only. Should I be cutting these back to encourage flowering? Or do I just let it do its thing?

Like many climbers, honeysuckle puts out long exploratory vegetative shoots. Flowering comes later. I would train these shoots where you want to them to go, and cut off any excess. Perhaps train the shoots horizontally or in an arch, to convince the honeysuckle it’s reached the top of the supporting bushes

The new shoots that have grown this year won't flower until next year at the earliest, so tie them into the support or whatever, and trim back any of the ones that have gone too mad.
