Indoor direct sun loving flowers

I have a very sunny East facing kitchen window and am trying to find some more pot plants for the windowsill. I already have an aloe vera & venus fly trap plants there but would like something with flowers.

Any suggestions for a flowering indoor plant that loves lots of direct sunlight please? I had a calla lily which didn't last 5 mins. It didn't look great when I bought it from Homebase, it was inside on a bottom shelf with no light. The woman said it would come back with light and a bigger pot but it died in a matter of weeks!

I have read that hibiscus love lots of light and they're beautiful, but can you buy them here in the uk for indoors as I haven't seen any? Can I buy an outdoor one and keep it inside?

I'm not very green thumbed as you may be able to tell!

African violets? Orchids?

Thank you I will look into African violets!

I have an orchid in the same room but a small north facing window as had read they don't do well in direct sunlight. Might try another one though as it's re-bloomed beautifully so I seem to have the hang of those!

Succulents and cacti would like it there. Hibiscus are rather large, how much space do you have?

Kalanchoes are succulents that flower very freely

African violets
Small citrus - calamondion orange; limequat etc
Orchid (I have one on a south facing window that has survived for 13 years but killed many more!)

Thank you all for the suggestions! Will definitely try some African violets they're very pretty. The windowsill wouldn't allow for a huge pot so that's a hibiscus off the cards. I didn't think succulents bloom so will have a look into those too.

Thank you 😊

As well as African Violets look up streptocarpus they flower pretty much continuously and are the same family as african violets

Pelargoniums
Kalanchoe
Succulents (quite a few of them flower if they get enough sun)
Bougainvillea
Busy lizzies
Begonias

I have often kept orchids on a sunny windowsill. They seem happy enough as long as you water them right.

Not sure whether African violets like actual direct sunshine though.

They don’t really, and can scorch in full sun, filtered light is better. East facing might be OK, if not full sun for too long.

Lots of cacti have beautiful flowers.

I used to have a conservatory - I had quite a few indoors hibiscuses, not very large, I don't think they were a hardy type. I also had a lot of pelargoniums, the normal sort (which could be overwintered and get very large) and scented ones. Kalanchoes are good for a small window ledge.
