I'm so happy! There's a great big hydrangea in the way, so I can't see exactly where it is, but I've seen them going in and out quite a few times today.😍

Congratulations OP 🐝🐝🐝

I was so worried that your post was going to be ‘How can I get rid of them?’

Thank you for making me smile ❤️

The more the merrier when it comes to bees as far as I'm concerned. 😂

Not quite so keen on wasps though, not since one lot ate their way through the ceiling in my hallway. They can buzz off.

Wonderful!

Just been down there to have another look, and while I was bending down I found a ripe strawberry. Today must be my lucky day.😀

Enjoy! Unfortunately, they don't stay for long - it's such a privilege.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 22/06/2024 20:01

Lovely!

We had one in our compost heap a couple of years ago which was slightly inconvenient, but as DeathNote says they only stay a little while.

LuluBlakey1 · 22/06/2024 20:05

We had Tree Bumblebees nesting under a facia in the roof for about 6 years. They were wonderful. Arrived early May every year, were very busy for a couple of months snd then left mid-July all together. They were very well-behaved, never came in the house or the bedroom window, went to bed early - about 8 pm and got up about 7am. Just didn't turn up last year nor this. 🙁

I had one in my lawn a few years back. Not many people can say their lawn is tussocky enough for bumblebees Grin

It was at the base of a clump of cocksfoot grass. Cocksfoot doesn’t normally feature in lawn mixes, but it does if your lawn is the result of mowing a field for 150 years.

They are the red-tailed bumblebees aren't they? They make solitary nests in the ground I think. We've had the odd one or two over the years, they quite like our sandy soil.

Very jealous. I love bees. I've occasionally had a solitary bee nest in a flowerpot, but that's all.

gamerchick · 22/06/2024 20:48

Really glad you're going to leave it alone. I love getting a bees nest me Grin

sandgrown · 22/06/2024 20:49

We had a group move into a bird house that the birds had ignored. They only stayed a few weeks

HughsMermaid · 22/06/2024 20:50

I hate wasps but best of luck with your lovely bees.

Enjoy 'Beethrow' ✈️🐝

That was my first thought too - I'm so pleased!
My small victory today was helping a large bumblebee get out of the greenhouse.

'Beethrow'
Love it! We do try to plant stuff that bees like, and they are particularly enjoying the foxgloves and purple toadflax this year. We have an enormous (10ft high & wide) cotoneaster which is about to flower any day now, and that will be popular.
