As the title says basically, the bumf and packet say indoor only - why wouldn't it be okay outdoors?

It will be OK outdoors. I had an "indoor" rose given to me and I planted it outdoors. It's absolutely huge now!

I had one from Tesco and planted it outside, its now a small rosebush! No idea why they sell them as an indoor plant, maybe because theyre small?!

Wizardcalledoz · 07/06/2024 16:53

Oh also, they are generally 4 young plants in one pot to make them look bushier

They basically sell them as flowering houseplants I guess, and a lot of people just chuck them when they finish flowering. I've planted them outdoors and they are fine.

I've just checked the one I brought and it does have 4 individual stems!

Thanks everyone, I couldn't see why they would be indoor only.

I got one yesterday, and have since thought that 3 or 4 of them would be really good in a small border I've got.
They are only £2.29, so I might get a few and try.

Risk of frost has passed and they'll have the summer to grow on outdoors.

Hmm, do I split them to plant out then ....

My mum always plants these in pots if people give them to her and they generally do really well outside.

I think they call them that because they sell them in winter too, and they’re probably greenhouse grown and wouldn’t survive if put straight outside in winter.
