As the title says, looking for plants for clay soil in a north facing position.
Ive currently got lots of Dog Wood and a hydrangea, but looking for something with some colour that’s a bit more plant like, than bush like.

Does it get any sun? My garden is north facing but the back of it gets some sun as it's the most southern point of the garden, if you see what I mean. I have very heavy clay soil and hydrangeas and heuchara have done ok so far. I didn't plant forget me knots but they seem to be loving it a little too much. Alpine strawberries can make good ground cover with tiny bits of colour.

I know that's barely worth posting but thought I'd help bump the post up. Have only got a small garden and it's mostly full of pots of fruit/veg so can't offer advice much at the mo!

I have heavy clay and roses seem to like it. Also daphnies and vibernums.

Alchemilla and geraniums?

I have clay north facing borders and the things that grow best are roses, lavender (bizarre), bay, herbs: rosemary, verbena, chives and hydrangeas.

Echinacea
Bergenia
Hardy Fuchsias
Japanese anemones

Hellebores
Euonymous green and gold thrives and adds colour all year round

I have hebes, valerian, peonies, Lythrum, aquilegias , fuschias, , campanula and yellow/orange poppies in my NE facing heavy clay back garden.
I also get random alchemillias sprouting up.
