Advice on crocosmia - not cutting old leaves?

Hi, I wonder if anyone can advise. I planted crocosmia (aka Montbretia) last year. Everything I read says to cut the old brown leaves in the spring. But mine haven’t died back - I’m in a warm spot and last year’s leaves are still green and healthy. Can I just leave (pun intended) them be as they are, and wait for the new growth to appear? Or do I need to cut them back? Thanks 🙏

I would just leave them - i have some which I never touch and it runs rampant!

Nothing you do will kill it, it's indestructible. Grows like a weed in my garden and if I have ever inadvertently put it on the compost heap after weeding it out it survives.
Cut it back if you want it tidy or leave the brown leaves if you don't mind.

Thank you both! I’ve got enough other garden jobs to do as it is 😁
