We’ve recently moved into a new house and the garden fences are in awful condition and falling down so I’d like to replace them all. The only issue is that on one side the fences are only 4 foot tall and they are the neighbours own, they don’t want them to be replaced as they like the view across my garden (fields along the back). I want to put up 6 foot fences against theirs but I now worry they would remove theirs, use mine (they hang all sorts of crap on their fences and use a sprayer to paint them) and take some of my boundary with it (I know it would only be a few inches but it’s still the principle).
I’ve been recommended to put up bamboo screening instead, but how would I fix this to anything as I can’t attach it to 4 foot fences and I’d worry the wind would blow it down?
It would take a long time to grow bushes/plants along the boundary tall enough to block them out.
I’m not sure what the best option is but I don’t like seeing into their garden (it looks like a car breaker yard with daily bonfires too) and I don’t like that they can see into ours, it makes me not want to use the garden due to lack of privacy.
Any suggestions please mumsnetters?
