When to harvest my radishes?

I am a newbie when it comes to growing my own fruits and vegs.

I planted one line of radishes seeds outdoors in one of my raised beds in early March and they have grown really well. I am starting to wonder how I will be able to tell when they are ready for harvest?

The leaves are about 5 cm/2 inches off the ground now. Do you wait until you see the top of the radish peeking out to start harvesting?

Bumping for you. Hope you enjoy your delicious radishes!

I love growing radishes. They are one of the easiest, fastest things in my raised beds. Mine are normally done in about 3 weeks from seed in soil to harvest.

Just pull one out now, and check if its your desired size, if its a bit small leave them for a few more days.

I tend to plant one small row every week or so, which then gives a constant supply of radishes throughout the summer.

I also love radishes, such a brilliant crop for kids.

I would pull one and see how it looks - it will be edible if too small so nothing wasted. Good luck!

Thank you everyone for the advice. I will try pulling one out to check

I will take the advice to replenish as well with new seeds. I did not realise they grow so quickly! :)

If you haven’t planted too deep, they’ll push their “shoulders” out of the soil. You can the feel gently whether they’re swollen enough.

Another amazing thing to grow is baby leaf spinach. Its fast and easy (like radishes), just pluck off the leaves and new ones will come in the next few days. Can be eaten raw.

I have a row spinach as well that I planted at the same time :).
