How to save my tulips?

They look a tad droopy and just bought them today.

I put a copper coin at the bottom but not sure what to do?

Thank you!

They will probably stand back up when they've had a good drink. Or put some lemonade in the water

I love tulips. They do often droop before perking up.

The ones in the garden seem to have rotted with the rain and I probably have only 50% of the number I had last year

Thanks both!

Will see how it goes overnight and if they haven't perked up I'll pop a bit of lemonade in them.

For £5 in Asda, couldn't say no. Gorgeous!

I saw a Facebook reel recently which I've tried and works a treat! Cut 3cm off every stem, wrap up like when you got them (using paper or the plastic wrap), tape or tie the wrapping and place in the vase (with water) where you will be displaying them and leave for at least 2 hours. Then unwrap and pop them back in the vase. It worked! Mine then didn't droop until 5 days later when repeated the process and gave them fresh water - they lasted a further 6 days! Very impressed!

Prick just under the flower head - it's to do with capillary action and the stem not being able draw up water (disclaimer: GCSE Biology was a long time ago so I may have got the technicalities a bit muddled!).

Apparently, unlike most other cut flowers, the stems of tulips continue to grow once cut, so they keep getting longer and go floppy.

Put a pin through the stem just below the flower. They are dropping because air has moved up the stem when you put them in water making the heads droop. I always do this & it always works.

Ive put a needle through and they have perked up already! Hopefully by tomorrow they look better! Thanks x

I agree with @SleepingisanArt . I have made mine undroopy by firmly wrapping a few sheets of newspaper round and sellotaping it together, like swaddling them, and leaving overnight.
