Mouldy soil!

I've noticed today my yucca has some white furry mould on the top of the soil. I am no gardener whatsoever, so any advice on why this has happened would be appreciated!

It's likely the top of your soil has remained damp - allowing mould to grow.

If it's white, it's totally harmless so I wouldn't worry abiut it. Except maybe to water from the bottom in future. Or, if you have to water from the top, try not to wet the whole surface of the soil. That way, the very top of the soils stays dry and the mould will go/not grow.

It's in a big pot, so if I water from the bottom you mean put the water in the pot rather than the top of the soil?

For example, if it is in a pot with drainage holes and stands in a saucer, put the water in the saucer for the plant to take it up.

If it's a plastic pot inside a bigger, waterproof pot then yes, put water in the outer pot so the soil takes it up from the bottom.

Yes so it's in the plastic pot it came in, inside a big white pot. I'll put water down the side of the white pot. Thank you!

It could just be mycorrhizal fungi, which are absolutely benign, and actually co-operate with plants to absorb nutrients from the soil.
