I get masses from one crown in my small garden, but, if you have lots of space and you love rhubarb, why not grow a couple of varieties?

Remember too that you can pick only till end June so you’ll want to freeze a lot.

Dont try to grow it in complete shade. If it’s on a reasonable sunny site with rich moist soil, 1-2 crowns will be enough. Each crown will spread 1.5m across

Crowns divide & spread. If you are planting a new one this year, I wouldn't take any of it, give it a chance to establish

I have two varieties, one of which is slightly earlier to spread the harvests. We slice up lots of stems to freeze so I'm actually thinking about a third so I always have rhubarb throughout the winter. It is lovely in porridge or stewed and added to yoghurt.

We have one for three rhubarb fans and it's more than enough. End up giving it away and still freezing loads. Weirdly, it's in poor soil and moderately neglected, but still hugely productive. Love rhubarb!!
