When & how to plant my peppers?

Okay so for Xmas my husband bought me:

-Planters (wooden ones)
-Some pepper seeds

I have never grown a vegetable in my life. But am going to start this year. Please note, I live in a hot European country.

What month should I plant them?

And what do I do?

How do I nurture them well?

(Please explain in very very simple terms)

Also.. which other fruits and veg are good options for a first timer?

Get the seeds in now! When the seedlings come up, remove some (tweezers work for me) so they aren't too overcrowded and keep them watered. Once they start bearing fruit, feed them with Tomato fertilizer, follow the instructions on the bottle.

For more in-depth advice, YouTube is a good source.

PS, I have assumed you are in the Northern hemisphere, otherwise wait until your early spring to sow the seeds.

they need 18-21 temperatures to germinate so probably on a window sill. Then harden off (put them outside for longer and longer each day) Do not leave outside if temperatures are going to drop below 12

Peppers are tricky in Europe because they want both lots of sun and high humidity - here in the sunny places it tends to be dry, which is why they are usually grown under plastic even in hot places.

If you are growing them in a pot, think about keeping the humidity high near them - mist them on a regular basis, as well as watering them.

In a plastic food container with holes at the bottom ( like the ones that you get tomatoes in) put some seed compost ( or I actually use ordinary compost mostly) scatter some seeds and out some clingfilm over the top.
Keep in a warm place like a kitchen and within about 7-10 days you'll see the seedlings pop up, remove clingflim and place in sunny windowsill
Once they are bigger you can take individual seedlings out and put in individual pots. Keep indoors on window sill until there are no more frosts then plant outside. They're very easy to grow

These are my pepper seedlings! I tried them for the first time last year + it was quite easy, so have included photos from each step.
Stage 1: You need a seed tray with a lid (relatively cheap from amazon) + a sunny window sill. Fill with compost, seeds on top (couple in each slot) and very light sprinkle of soil over. Keep the soil moist using a spray or little water bottle so you don't damage when they are delicate. Take the lid off when they have all sprouted.
Stage 2: growing on, when they need more space, ideally 6 leaves or more. I read a 10cm pot is recommended, but I just split mine up induvidually in the seed tray and put the rest where ever I could find. Still keep on a sunny windowsill. Also turn them so they don't bend so much. A bamboo kebab skewer is a great support.
Stage 3: planting out. By the time they reach the top of the kebab skewer they are probably ready for their final pot. Maybe 25cm or bigger. They will want proper bamboo canes for support as peppers are heavy. If you want to plant them outside, you are meant to give them time to adjust to the temperature by placing them outside a few days. I would suggest keeping a few inside, in case the outside ones get eaten like mine (I got self watering pots from amazon, brilliant!)
Good luck!
