Duck eggs in the garden!

We've had a duck loitering in our garden for a few weeks. DH has just found several eggs under a bush. We're semi rural but a couple of hundred metres from a watercourse.
Do we need to do anything or just leave well alone?!

Eat them or let the duck hatch them

We have this every year, I just leave them. Sometimes they hatch and sometimes they don’t but it’s lovely to see ducklings waddling around the years they do hatch.

Leave them. The ducks will come and go. We had 8 eggs last year and they all hatched. It was really exciting.

200 metres isn't far, the mother knows it's there, so if you get ducklings she will lead them there.

Airing cupboard?

Won't hatch unless a drake has been on them to fertilise them.
Have you seen one about?

It's the duck he needs to have been on - it's a bit late now she's laid them!

It's a duck not a fish!

How exciting Op! Please send pics of ducklings should they hatch 😀

Ducks and their nests are legally protected, as with other wild birds.
