I'm in the SE, can I prune my hydrangeas or shall I wait for a few more weeks? We are prone to early morning frost.

Should be ok to prune them now.

We I live near Manchester and don’t prune until the end of April or even beginning of May. I like to wait until the new buds are well established as I think the old flowers protect them from the rain!

Thank you. The weather forecast is showing Dry for the next few days, seems ideal for pruning then!

Aren't you supposed to wait til risk of frosts have gone and new buds have grown under old flowers?

It really depends on the hydrangea variety, they're not all the same when it comes to pruning. Google on Gardeners World.

On many types, the new buds and flowers are on the new stems, not the stems with the old flower heads on. I prune the dead flowers and dried up stems when the new ones are flourishing.
